Pièce unique

Designer and creative director Caroline De Cuyper challenges the boundaries of the functional over the artistic in her projects. In a new collaboration with painter Pablo Piatti, she shows that a piece of furniture can also be a work of art and that paintings don't just belong on the wall. She had two of her T02 coffee tables painted by Piatti, resulting in a set of expressive pièces uniques.

The Bauhaus-inspired T02 coffee table has a recess in the middle that doesn't have to be purely functional but also symbolises the open conversations you have around the table. For the intangible things you throw in and take out.

The coffee table Mowgli Cantaloupe Melon shows over its entire surface a person sitting on a rock overlooking the lush natural landscape. ‘This painting immediately brought me very close to myself,’ says Caroline. ‘Here, in powerful purple and coral pink, Pablo sketches someone searching, a small figure in a huge world. A feeling to which we can all tell our own story.’
